Biographie / Biography:

Certified Montreal Academy of Music teacher since 2015.

Master's of Music from Université de Montréal.

Tommy completed his M.Mus. (Performance) at the Université de Montréal in the Spring of 2015. He holds performance certificates from the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt in Paris, France as well as a B.Mus. (Performance) from the University of Saskatchewan. A classically trained saxophonist, his formative years covered the traditional French/North American repertoire while he was performing in concert bands, jazz combo, big band, pit bands and saxophone quartet. In France he focused mainly on new music and integrating electronics and contemporary techniques into his playing.

During his time in Montreal Tommy has investigated improvisation and theatrics as well as interdisciplinary performances with dancers. His exploration of articulations allows him to perform percussive and beat-based sounds perfect for creating electronic loop tracks or beat-boxing sounds.

With a wide range of influences and education, Tommy teaches all styles of music at all levels and ages for saxophone, as well as beginner and intermediate clarinet and flute. He enjoys working on a variety of music with his students from classical transcriptions to pop/jazz to new music with CD accompaniment or whatever individual interests the student has.

Tommy is an active soloist, collaborator and chamber musician and he brings his passion for exploring, interpreting and performing music to his private lessons in a fun and friendly environment!
