Biographie / Biography:

Certified Montreal Academy of Music teacher since 2015.
Bachelor of Music, Dalhousie University.

A great addition to our team. Ever since discovering classic rock and blues music as a teenager, Justin has been passionate about the guitar and focused on pursuing his musical goals. Justin began playing rock covers and original compositions around Cape Breton Island in his high school band, highlighted by a showcase appearance at the 2005 Cape Breton International Drum Festival.

He attended Dalhousie University in 2006 where he studied classical and jazz guitar, where he played solo and ensemble classical recitals, was a member of the Dalhousie Jazz Big Band and “Guitorchestra” for 3 years, and played countless gigs around Nova Scotia.

After graduating with a Bachelor of music degree in 2011, Justin relocated to Montréal where he has performed with several groups and is currently recording material for a full length album with local band Ghost Love, as well doing freelance work as a guitarist and session musician.

His passion for teaching the guitar and bass began in the summer of 2006, and since then he has taught students of all ages and skill levels in a number of genres and styles. His teaching experience also includes after school youth guitar courses at the Halifax Independent School and assistant teaching for large guitar classes at the Dalhousie Music Department.

His teaching style is can be described as easy-going and fun but with a detail oriented and goal driven approach, with a focus on bringing the best out of the student by teaching them the music they want to learn. No matter what style you wish to explore, Justin will help you reach your musical goals!
