Biographie / Biography:
Certified Montreal Academy of Music teacher since 2017.
TEACHES STUDENTS 7 YEARS AND OLDER
Carlos started to study music when he was 4-years old. At the age of 13, he began to study electric guitar intensively. In 2000, he joined the National Academy of Music Juan Manuel Olivares in Venezuela where he studied five years of theory and solfege, three years of classical harmony, history of music, counterpoint and was an accompanist for chamber music. His degree in Classical Piano was received in 2011. As of 2017 Carlos has also been studying jazz piano with renowned New York based pianist Dave Frank.
Between May 2005 and July 2008, he studied harmony, composition and jazz improvisation. Likewise, during those four years he was a music professor in private academies in Venezuela and also a session musician for recordings and live presentations assisting many artists in Venezuela. He is an active musician in Montreal.
His teaching method is different according to each person and learning objectives. He believes that not all methods apply for each person in the same way. He customizes each student's musical studies and can cover different areas and genres of music. Carlos can teach scales, rhythms, chords, theory, harmony, improvisation and composition to particularities of each genre like jazz, blues, bossa nova, pop, rock and even academic music. He likes to break down the content during his classes to maximize the learning experience and to get the best result from each student. This way each student will be able to maximize his or her maximum potential in music.
