Biographie / Biography:
Certified Montreal Academy of Music Teacher since 2017.
Bachelor of Music | National Arts School. Havana, Cuba.
Diploma of Music | Conservatory of Music A. G. Caturla. Havana, Cuba.
Tony can give lessons in Spanish, Italian and German.
Versatility & multiculturalism are Tony’s forte. He was introduced to the world ofJazz and Pop by Grammy-nominated pianist Andrés Alén and by flutist Alberto
Corrales Subidá, who showed him the way of musical improvisation.
His passion for music has led him to explore and master a variety of styles. He teaches all genres, from Classical, Pop and Rock to Jazz, Latin Jazz and Afro-Cuban.
Tony was born into a family of artists. It was no surprise that he began composing his first piano works at age 11. Ten of his preludes have been recognized as a pedagogical repertoire in various art schools in Cuba and have been played by the virtuoso pianist “Jorge Luis Prats” as a suite.
Tony is currently working on a music book with some of his piano works.Educated under the rigor of The Russian School of Piano Playing since his early years, he obtained all the technical skills and the necessary theoretical tools that allowed him to practice his profession as a piano teacher at the Vocational School of
Arts Raúl Sanchez, in Pinar del Río and at the National Arts School of Havana, Cuba, after his residency.
He is a good connoisseur of the Suzuki Method, Bastien Piano Basics, Aural Perspectives on Musical Learning and Practice, Piano Syllabus of The Royal Conservatory and ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music),
combining such with the knowledge acquired during years of work at the Modern Music School, in Germany.
His motto is “Music is Fun”. For Tony the student is absolutely the center of a healthy and happy environment called “classroom”,age does not matter when it
comes to learning.
Passion and love for music are the basis, then the know-how and
the so-called “go forward” surely will help build solid study habits, one step at a
time, with joy.
As an energetic pianist and keyboardist, he has toured Italy. His first gig abroad was in 1995 when he was featured on Italian Television “RAI” with Marano Latin Band,
opening act for pop band Pooh in Perugia city, also toured Germany, Holland, Switzerland, France, Cuba, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Liechtenstein, Canada and Turkey with different bands and projects.
Tony has collaborated with artists such as Cuban conga player and percussionistn Roberto Santamaria on Tribute Tours for Grammy Award Winner and Percussion Legend Mongo Santamaria (known for jazz standards Watermelon Man and Afro Blue), Latin Jazz Quintet CuBop Funk, Cuban renown guitarist, composer, producer, musical director “Dany Labana Martinez” and his Latin-Hip-Rock Band “Labana” (who has officially accompanied singer Lou Bega, best known for Billboard’s #3 hitsingle “Mambo No. 5”)in more than two hundred and fifty performances.
An overall talented and passionate teacher who will be sure to make your learning experience a well-rounded one!
