Biographie / Biography:

Certified Montreal Academy of Music Teacher since 2018.

Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, Nick is a recent graduate of the Master’s programme at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in Classical Performance Clarinet. He joined the team at the Montreal Academy of Music in 2018 and comes with several years of teaching experience.

He previously maintained a studio of forty students a week in Wellington, teaching both privately and in primary and secondary schools. During this time he taught a variety of levels, from beginners to those auditioning for university music programmes, as well as adult learners. Nick is also an active performer who enjoys playing in orchestras as well as working with composers to create new musical works.

In addition to teaching classical music, Nick also loves teaching jazz, pop and klezmer folk music to students of both clarinet and saxophone. Nick is an enthusiastic teacher who likes to keep his students engaged through a variety of musical styles and activities during lessons. He is a strong believer in the value of performance (whether for an audience of two or two hundred) to help his students achieve their musical goals.
